Introit Hymn 10 All for Jesus
O God, the strength of all those who put their trust in you, mercifully accept our prayers and, because through the weakness of our mortal nature we can do no good thing without you, grant us the help of your grace, that in the keeping of your commandments we may please you both in will and deed;
through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
First Reading Genesis 14: 18-20
And King Melchizedek of Salem brought out bread and wine; he was priest of God Most High. He blessed him and said, ‘Blessed be Abram by God Most High, maker of heaven and earth; and blessed be God Most High, who has delivered your enemies into your hand!’ And Abram gave him one-tenth of everything. Then the king of Sodom said to Abram, ‘Give me the people, but take the goods for yourself.’ But Abram said to the king of Sodom, ‘I have sworn to the LORD, God Most High, maker of heaven and earth, that I would not take a thread or a sandal-thong or anything that is yours, so that you might not say, “I have made Abram rich.” I will take nothing but what the young men have eaten, and the share of the men who went with me – Aner, Eshcol, and Mamre. Let them take their share.’
Second Reading Corinthians 11: 23-26
Beloved: I received from the Lord what I also handed on to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night when he was betrayed took a loaf of bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, ‘This is my body that is for you. Do this in remembrance of me.’ In the same way he took the cup also, after supper, saying, ‘This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.’ For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until he comes.
Gradual Hymn 277a (tune 2) Jesus shall reign
Gospel John 6: 51-58
Jesus said to the Jews: ‘I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Whoever eats of this bread will live for ever; and the bread that I will give for the life of the world is my flesh.’ The Jews then disputed among themselves, saying, ‘How can this man give us his flesh to eat?’ So Jesus said to them, ‘Very truly, I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. Those who eat my flesh and drink my blood have eternal life, and I will raise them up on the last day; for my flesh is true food and my blood is true drink. Those who eat my flesh and drink my blood abide in me, and I in them. Just as the living Father sent me, and I live because of the Father, so whoever eats me will live because of me. This is the bread that came down from heaven, not like that which your ancestors ate, and they died. But the one who eats this bread will live for ever.’

Eternal Father, we thank you for nourishing us with these heavenly gifts: may our communion strengthen us in faith, build us up in hope, and make us grow in love; for the sake of Jesus Christ our Lord.

Slideshow about Kenya and Malawi
Sue and Mtr Ariadne will be showing photos of their time in Africa and speaking about their experiences on Saturday 11th June at 10am. Refreshments (brunch and cake) provided. It would be good to have an indication of how many people we should cater for, so can you let Mtr Ariadne know, preferably by email, whether you intend to be there? Thanks.
Caroline will be organising a session for children with crafts and songs.
Sue has agreed to stay on as warden, but we need someone else to come forward to be warden as well. Please, consider whether God may be calling you to this very important ministry.
PCC have put together a survey about our parish that they would like as many people as possible to fill in. The survey will be handed out throughout June. Please, make sure you complete a survey. Thank you!
Admission to Communion
Deji, Jack, Red, Elwood, Kirsty, Scarlett, Baydon, Andre and James are doing the Admission to Communion Course. Please help them complete their Living Stones assignment. You are the living stones of this church! Thanks.
Our Confirmation Service will be on July 17th at 9.30am. There won’t be Messy Church or another service on that Sunday. Instead, we are hoping that everyone will come to the Confirmation Service. Several adults and young people will be confirmed and some children will be admitted to communion. Please, come and support these candidates, as they take a big step on their faith journey.
Please, return your CA envelopes as soon as possible. Thank you!
It’s still only May, but Enid has already booked this year’s Pantomime: Peter Pan, 4th December 2016 at Greenwich Theatre. If you are interested in buying a ticket, please, contact Enid (firstname.lastname@example.org)
Next Working Party is next Saturday (4th June) at 8.30am. Please, come and help John, if you can, to cut grass and prune trees etc., even if you only have half an hour or an hour to give. Bring a pair of gloves. Thank you!
